Standard domain expiration timeline
Most gTLD domains follow a familiar lifecycle around the expiration date. Exact days can differ by TLD and registry, so treat this as a typical pattern, not a guarantee.
- Before expiration - renew anytime; auto-renew attempts may run a few days prior.
- Expiration date - the domain may stop resolving or show a parking page depending on settings.
- Grace period - many names can still renew at the normal renewal price for a limited time.
- Redemption - restoring the name often costs an extra redemption fee and takes longer.
- Pending delete - the name is queued to return to general availability; recovery may no longer be possible.
Warning: Country-code domains (.uk, .au, .us, and others) can use different calendars. Check your Domain Portfolio dates and renew early.
