Forward my Domain Striker domain

Domain forwarding sends visitors who type your Domain Striker domain to a different URL. It is handy when the live site lives elsewhere or you want the name to open a profile, store, or landing page.

Watch me do it in under 4 minutes

Note: When you set up forwarding in the portfolio, HTTPS forwarding is applied automatically. No extra certificate step is required for the redirect itself.
  1. Sign in and open your Domain Portfolio. Need help? Start with sign in.
  2. Select the domain you want to forward to open Domain Settings.
  3. Open DNS, then choose Forwarding.
  4. Select Add Forwarding and pick the scope:
    • Domain: forward the root (example.com).
    • Subdomain: forward something like blog.example.com (enter the subdomain label when prompted).
  5. Choose http:// or https:// for the destination URL, then paste the full destination visitors should reach.
  6. Destination URL rules of thumb:
    • Periods are allowed; consecutive periods (..) are not.
    • Underscores are not supported.
    • Keep the destination under 1,000 characters.
  7. Pick a forwarding type:
    • Permanent (301): long-term move; search engines treat the destination as the new home.
    • Temporary (302): short-term redirect while you keep the original URL in play.
    • Forward with masking: visitors see your domain in the address bar while content loads from the destination (not every site supports masking).
  8. If you chose masking, add at least a short description and optional keywords for how the page may appear in search, then continue.
  9. Select Save. Domains with Domain Protection may ask you to confirm with an identity check before the change applies.

If the domain is not already on Domain Striker nameservers, the portfolio will switch them for you so forwarding can work. Most DNS updates settle within about an hour; allow up to 48 hours worldwide.

After you save

  • To also send www traffic, point the www CNAME at @ (or add matching forwarding for www).
  • Forwarding locks the root A record. Remove forwarding first if you need to edit that A record again.
  • If a masked page shows blank, switch to a standard 301/302 forward, since some destinations block framing.
